Original Narrative Wearable Art is the intersection of traditional handcraft, artistic expression, and storytelling.
Each piece is individually designed and handcrafted by Dean J. Scherer, using combinations of leather, cord, stone, metal, knots, texture, color, and form. Materials are selected not simply for appearance, but for the part they play in the larger composition.
Every knot is tied by hand.
Every proportion is considered.
Every material has a purpose.
And every finished work has a story.
WEARABLE ART WITH A NARRATIVE
These are not mass-produced accessories.
They are small works of wearable art created around an idea and designed to develop character as they are worn.
Natural leather softens and changes. Metals develop a subtle patina. Stone carries its own variations. Hand-tied knots and braids bear the small distinctions of the artisan's hand.
Because of this, no two pieces are exactly alike.
Even pieces created within the same limited design retain their own individual character.
Each becomes part of the story of the person who wears it.

Each design begins with a virtue and translates that idea into material, structure, balance, and symbolism.
Leather may represent endurance.
Stone may provide the heart of the composition.
Metal may mark defining moments.
Knots may represent choices, discipline, relationships, or the accumulation of character over time.
The result is not merely a bracelet named after a virtue.
The piece becomes an artistic expression of that virtue.

What We Choose to Carry.
A covenant represents commitment.
A promise.
A bond that remains when circumstances change.
The Covenant Collection explores those enduring connections through substantial leather, metal, stone, knots, and handcrafted construction.
These pieces tend toward a stronger, more rugged visual language—designed to communicate permanence, loyalty, resilience, and commitment.
Some covenants are made with another person.
Some are made with God.
Some are promises we make to ourselves about the kind of person we intend to become.
Whatever their origin, they are meant to endure.

THE ELEMENTS COLLECTION

Not every story requires a complex composition.
The Elements Collection brings the philosophy of Scherer Impact Artisan Custom Wear into more streamlined, accessible pieces designed for everyday wear.
Color.
Texture.
Leather.
Cord.
Metal.
Stone.
Simple forms intentionally combined to create distinctive handcrafted designs.
These pieces may be more understated than works from the Virtues or Covenant Collections, but they remain individually handcrafted and unmistakably original.
Original does not have to mean elaborate.
Sometimes a few carefully chosen elements say exactly what needs to be said.
THE ARTIST'S EDITION
Certain designs within the Virtues and Covenant Collections are created as limited artisan editions of no more than 26 individually handcrafted pieces.
The original design receives the designation “a.”

Subsequent interpretations are designated:
003b · 003c · 003d ... through 003z
After the twenty-sixth piece, the design is retired.
These are not twenty-six identical reproductions.
Each is individually handcrafted. Natural variation in leather, stone, metals, knotting, tension, texture, and the artisan's hand ensures that every piece possesses its own individual character.
The edition identifies the shared artistic design.
The hand makes each one an original.
ORIGINAL NARRATIVE WEARABLE ART
Each signature work is accompanied by documentation describing the design, materials, symbolism, and narrative behind the piece.
Selected works may also include a Certificate of Authenticity, identifying the collection, design number, edition designation, year of creation, and artisan.
The purpose is to preserve more than the object.
It preserves why the object was created.
Because years from now, the leather may carry the marks of its wearer and the materials may show the passage of time—but the story that gave the piece meaning should remain.
FROM THE ARTISAN
Every piece I create begins long before the first knot is tied.
It begins with an idea, a person, a virtue, a commitment, or a story worth preserving.
I do not simply assemble leather, stone, metal, and cord. I try to give those materials a relationship to one another so that the completed piece communicates something greater than its individual parts.
My hope is that these works are worn.
That they acquire character.
That they become associated with places, experiences, accomplishments, people, and moments in someone's life.
And perhaps, someday, one will be passed from one person to another along with the story of what it meant.
That is when something worn becomes something remembered.
